SUMMARY:IASIU Members Webinar: The Hidden Threat: Synthetic Identities & Account Takeovers in Modern Fraud
DESCRIPTION:IASIU Members-Only Webinar: The Hidden Threat: Synthetic Identities and Account Takeovers in Modern Insurance Fraud \nPresented by Alex Lugo of IDI Data \nWednesday\, November 19th\, 20251:00PM – 2:00PM ETWebex \nClass Description: \nSynthetic identity fraud and account takeovers represent two of the most rapidly evolving threats facing insurance organizations today. Unlike traditional identity theft\, synthetic identities are fabricated from a blend of real and fictitious data\, allowing fraudsters to build credible profiles over time and exploit policy issuance and claims processes. In parallel\, account takeovers—driven by phishing\, credential stuffing\, and social engineering—enable unauthorized access to existing customer accounts\, facilitating fraudulent transactions and payouts. This webinar will equip insurance fraud professionals with a comprehensive understanding of how these schemes operate\, why they often bypass conventional controls\, and what steps can be taken to detect and disrupt them effectively. Attendees will explore scenarios across life and P&C lines\, learn to recognize red flags and behavioral indicators\, and discover the growing role of cross-source data validation and identity resolution in modern investigations. The session will also outline practical tools\, investigative techniques\, and cross-functional response strategies to help Special Investigations Units (SIU) and their partners protect their organizations from mounting losses and reputational harm. \nBio: \nAlex Lugo is the Vertical Leader for Insurance at IDI Data\, where he works to provide cutting-edge data fusion and analytics solutions that empower investigative professionals in the insurance industry. With over 15 years of experience\, he’s dedicated his career to helping SIU teams uncover fraud\, streamline investigations\, and leverage data to drive meaningful results. \nTo register for the webinar\, please click here: \nIASIU Members Webinar: The Hidden Threat: Synthetic Identities & Account Takeovers in Modern Fraud \n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n
