Steve Piper to join the Coalition’s Executive Committee following the retirement of longtime fraud fighter Ken Jones

Washington, D.C. –– On Monday, CNA’s Global Head of Special Investigations, Steve Piper, joined the Coalition’s Executive Committee. Piper replaces Ken Jones of Travelers Insurance, who recently retired after more than 30 years of fighting insurance fraud.

Piper has been a player in the anti-fraud space for decades. He previously served on IASIU’s board of directors and has spent time on multiple committees within the Coalition, including the Government Affairs and Research Committees. In addition to his new responsibilities on the Executive Committee, Piper is also working on the Workers Compensation Committee to update the total annual estimated amount of comp fraud.

Piper says he first got involved with the anti-fraud community through his former boss, Jones, at Travelers.

“Early in my career I was involved in co-creating an ethics training program with NICB and IASIU many years ago. Ken always made sure to involve me in various anti-fraud projects.” Piper said.

Piper has not looked back since taking on assignments to grow the Coalition’s CQ Engage tool, conceptualizing the Globalization of Insurance Fraud and Technology study, and building support for the Coalition’s Qui Tam Model Act.

Piper is looking to broaden his scope as an Executive Committee member and use his previous experience with other fraud fighting organizations.

“I hope to serve as a bridge in institutional knowledge between the original group of fraud fighters that are now retiring and the next generation of leaders entering the field,” Piper said.
